The women of Maple Brook are returning to Netflix this Thanksgiving, and the show’s central queer storyline is far from over. The Hunting Wives Season 2 premieres November 26, with Brittany Snow and Malin Åkerman reprising their roles as Sophie and Margo.
When the series returns, Sophie and Margo are reportedly on the outs. However, old secrets and new enemies soon force them back into each other’s lives. Netflix is already teasing more of their “steamy romance,” describing the passion between the two women as even more electric this season. Considering their relationship has always been an intoxicating mix of attraction, obsession and truly terrible decisions, reconciliation is unlikely to make life in Maple Brook any less chaotic.
The show’s other queer entanglements may also be evolving. Jaime Ray Newman returns as Callie, Margo’s fiercely loyal best friend and occasional lover. Newly released photos show Callie getting close to Nadia, a Hollywood producer played by Kim Matula, suggesting Sophie and Margo may not be the only women exploring a new connection this season.
There is also a familiar face joining the cast for WNBA fans. Chicago Sky star Angel Reese will play Trainer Barbie, a tough former athlete charged with keeping Baylor basketball player Brad Thompson in line.
With queer romance, jealousy, murder and at least one WNBA star entering the drama, The Hunting Wives appears ready to deliver another season of deliciously questionable behavior. Season 2 arrives on Netflix on Thanksgiving Day.
