Miami Beach Pride takes place every year in April. While there are some phenomenal events for lesbians. Miami’s unofficial Pride for queer women of color is SweetHeat Miami a week-long event created for women of all backgrounds and identities in the Miami area that expects to see more than 50 thousand women in attendance.

SweetHeat Miami stands out as a vibrant celebration of diversity, culture, and empowerment, specifically tailored for women. Now in its 16th year, this annual festival is uniquely designed to cater to LGBTQ+ women, with a special emphasis on queer women of color. Set against the backdrop of Miami, a city celebrated for its dynamic queer and lesbian nightlife, the festival unfolds across various trendy locales, including South Beach, Wynwood, and Downtown Miami. This year’s festival is May 14-20 and promises a week filled with non-stop entertainment—from sun-soaked daytime events to exhilarating nights. Whether you’re there to dance until dawn at nightly parties or to forge new friendships at one of the many social events, SweetHeat is designed to build community. The festival is meticulously organized by Myah Mustafa, also known as DJ Dimples, who emphasizes that SweetHeat is a “judgment-free zone” where women can freely express themselves, celebrate their identities, and enjoy an environment of safety and acceptance.

With ticket prices starting at just $20 for the Monday Night Party and going up to $350 for an All Access pass, the festival includes daytime dance parties, twerk workshops, and vibrant nightlife featuring local DJs, live music, and plenty of dancing. On Wednesday, the gorgeous rooftop is hosting Connect, a queer speed dating event, and on Monday they’re hosting a day party called Lets Chill. According to event coordinators, “You can book anywhere between 1st and 21st on Washington Ave., Collins Ave., Ocean Drive, or Wynwood” and easily attend events using ride-share or rental car options.
