Queer & Lesbian Group Travel: Exploring the Wonders of Argentina and Brazil

There is nothing quite like queer & lesbian group travel, no matter the destination it is an incredible experience, and our recent journey to Argentina and Brazil was no exception. This trip was a perfect mix of awe-inspiring natural beauty, vibrant culture, and the joy of traveling in a like-minded community.

Our adventure began with a visit to the breathtaking Iguazú Falls. Straddling the border between Argentina and Brazil, Iguazú is a wonder of nature that left our group speechless. We started on the Argentine side, where the trails provided a chance to immerse ourselves in the lush rainforest. From the upper trail offering panoramic views to the lower trail bringing us closer to the cascading water, every step was unforgettable. The highlight was a Zodiac boat ride that brought us to the base of the falls, soaking us in the mist and leaving us exhilarated.

Crossing into Brazil, we experienced Iguazú from a new perspective. Standing before the iconic Garganta del Diablo, or Devil’s Throat, we felt the immense power of the falls. It was a sublime moment that reminded us of nature’s incredible force and beauty.

From the natural splendor of Iguazú, we transitioned to the cultural vibrancy of Buenos Aires. Our exploration began in Plaza de Mayo, where history and LGBTQ+ stories intertwined. The city’s rich queer history added depth to our visit, from learning about indigenous gender expressions to modern-day activism.

The journey continued through Buenos Aires’ northern neighborhoods, including the Recoleta Cemetery with its ornate tombs and grandiose architecture. We marveled at the elegant manors of the Gilded Age before delving into Argentina’s present with a visit to Mocha Celis, a groundbreaking school for trans and nonbinary students.

In Tigre, we embraced the tranquility of nature. A private boat took us through winding canals to a serene cabin where we enjoyed a traditional Argentine asado. It was a day of relaxation and camaraderie, with swimming, card games, and bonding over shared meals.

Buenos Aires offered countless highlights, from the colorful streets of La Boca to the feminist symbolism of the Woman’s Bridge. A private queer tango lesson with Laurent TPK introduced us to the fluidity and joy of queer tango. Dancing in a traditional milonga felt like a celebration of identity and community.

Our visit coincided with one of the most exciting Pride celebrations in the world, adding another layer of joy to our trip. Beyond organized activities, our group embraced free time to explore Buenos Aires. Whether cheering with locals at soccer bars, diving into history tours, or experiencing the city’s lesbian nightlife, each moment added to the richness of our journey.

This trip wasn’t just about destinations; it was about connection. Traveling as part of a lesbian group created a space for deep conversations, shared laughs, and lasting friendships. Guests from across North America shared stories of their travels, sparking inspiration for future adventures.

As a shy introvert, I’ve come to cherish the magic of queer and lesbian group travel. The sense of belonging and the opportunity to explore the world with others who share a passion for community is unparalleled. This trip reaffirmed my commitment to encouraging queer people to see the world and embrace the joy of traveling together.

Argentina and Brazil provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable experience. From the thunderous falls of Iguazú to the tango halls of Buenos Aires, every moment was enriched by the incredible people who made up our group. I feel grateful to have been a part of this journey and excited to embark on future adventures in queer and lesbian group travel.
